Music Subscribers Database

Just published is an online Dataset of Subscribers to Eighteenth-Century Music Publications in Britain and Ireland, which can be accessed here: www.musicsubscribers.co.uk

This online database of people who subscribed to all known printed music in Britain and Ireland between 1676 and 1820 contains 160,000 entries from 779 sources: all surviving printed music published by subscription as well as subscribers to works of poetry, literature, theatre boxes, etc., and musicians found in trade directories and other sources. The dataset is the culmination of a 6-year project with Dr Simon Fleming (Durham) which provided data for our book published last year: Music by Subscription: Composers and their Networks in the British Music-Publishing Trade, 1676–1820.
